Peluuri Annual Report 2025

Peluuri Annual Report 2025

Abstract

Peluuri prevents and reduces the social, financial and health-related problems caused by gambling. The mission is carried out by offering support and counseling services and by producing information on problem gambling and how to prevent and treat it.

The target groups are gamblers, their close ones and professionals who come across people with gambling problems in their work. The work focuses on the harms of gambling, but Peluuri’s services are also available to digital gamers and their close ones. The Finnish Blue Ribbon´s Restart program is a part of Peluuri’s range of services, and it expands the services available for digital gamers. The figures relating to Restart aren’t presented in this report.

This report presents Peluuri’s activities and its key figures in 2025. The report includes statistics gained from the helpline and chat, which provide a great vantage point onto the changing harms of gambling. In addition, the report covers statistics relating to the Time to Fold -program and OmaPeluuri.

In total, approximately 4 000 individuals from the target groups participated in Peluuri’s various services (helpline and chat, Peli poikki -program, and OmaPeluuri) in 2025.

In addition, the tests available on Peluuri’s website were completed a total of over 5,000 times.Throughout the year, there were 1775 contacts to the helpline and chat concerning actual gambling-related problems. The Time to Fold -program was fully completed by 267 players.

The largest single group seeking help consists of young adult men.

Of the players who contacted the helpline and chat, whose gender was identified, 77 percent were men and 70 percent were under 35 years old. Of those applying to the Peli poikki program, 71 percent were men, and the average age of the players was 34 years.

For monetary gamblers seeking help, online gambling is the primary form of gambling. All applicants to the Peli poikki program reported that at least one online game had caused them problems. Of those who contacted the helpline and chat, 95 percent mainly gambled online.

The most problematic games were online slot machines, online casino games, and online betting.

Help is often sought only when the problem has already become serious. Of those applying to the Time to Fold -program, nearly half had been dealing with the gambling problem for at least seven years. 77% of those who had started the Time to Fold program had gambling-related debts, and 60% of them had more than €10,000 in debt.
